Does Hydroponic Mean Organic?
ByWhen planning an organic garden, many people will ask about hydroponic gardening. It is often perceived that if the plants are not being grown in soil, that they must be grown organically. This is a misconception. Organic gardening and hydroponics really are not the same, although you can grow your vegetables hydroponically and organically. Just be aware that the vegetables you buy in the store may say they are hydroponic, but that doesn’t mean that organic principles were used to grow them.

I found this site through Stumbleupon. This is a affordable, cheap, but very traditional hydro system. It is very effective because the roots are in the nutrient solution. Hopefully you don’t have any problems with pests when you bring it indoors. Great post!
I know hydroponics is all the rage right now but something in my gut tells me it just isn’t right. Maybe I’m aging myself but I think food should be grown in dirt. Good organic dirt. With some hard work prepping and amending, nature will do the rest. Yes its true my veggies are not the perfect variety you find in grocery stores but the flavorsnor the price cannot be beat. Blemishes aside, I’ll take a backyard veggie over store bought everytime. Thanks for all your info and a great post. I will be back.
